Description
csharp-mcp-server-generator is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that scaffolds a production-ready Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in C#. It generates a complete .NET 8.0 or later console application that uses the Host builder pattern, dependency injection, and the stdio transport through which MCP clients talk to servers. The project references the ModelContextProtocol package, which is a prerelease, and Microsoft.Extensions.Hosting. Logging is configured to write to stderr, so log messages do not corrupt the protocol messages sent over standard output. Tools are discovered automatically from the assembly by attributes, so each tool is a method with a description that the client can read. The skill requires at least one useful tool and includes error handling and input validation. It is useful for developers who want to give an AI assistant access to their own systems or data through a server they control. Each tool a server exposes can act on real systems, so the scaffolded tools should be limited to what is needed and reviewed before the server is connected to an assistant. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 8.4K installs, with Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket passing and Snyk showing a warning at the time of the scan.…
