Description
hatch-pet is an agent skill in the OpenDesign project that creates, repairs, validates, previews and packages Codex-compatible animated pet spritesheets. It can start from a concept, from one or more reference images, or from both, and it accepts character art, screenshots, generated images and other visual references. It handles the pet-specific work: prompt planning, animation rows, frame extraction, atlas geometry, quality checks, previews and packaging. Visual generation is delegated to a separate imagegen skill. Its inputs are optional. If the user does not name the pet, the skill infers a name from the concept or the reference filenames, and if it cannot, it picks a short, suitable name. If no reference images are given, it first generates a base pet from text and uses that base as the reference for every animation row. The packaged spritesheet.webp file goes into the pets folder under the Codex home directory, and it can be imported into OpenDesign's floating pet companion through the settings. The import detects an 8 by 9 grid with a 192 by 208 pixel atlas, and lets the user choose which animation row to play, such as idle, running right or waving.…
