kotlin-patterns
Idiomatic Kotlin patterns, best practices, and conventions for building robust
by affaan-mFree
Description
kotlin-patterns is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It enforces idiomatic Kotlin conventions for building robust, efficient and maintainable applications. It works across seven areas: null safety through the type system and safe-call operators, immutability with val and copy on data classes, sealed classes and interfaces for exhaustive type hierarchies, structured concurrency with coroutines and Flow, extension functions as an alternative to inheritance, type-safe DSL builders using @DslMarker and lambda receivers, and Gradle Kotlin DSL for build configuration. The skill applies when writing new Kotlin code, reviewing it, refactoring existing code, designing modules or libraries, and configuring Gradle builds with the Kotlin DSL. Because it is a SKILL.md file of instructions, an agent loads it for those tasks and follows the same conventions each time. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.…
Highlights
- Null safety and immutability by default
- Sealed types for exhaustive hierarchies
- Extension functions over inheritance
- Type-safe DSL builders and Gradle Kotlin DSL
