prometheus-configuration is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for setting up Prometheus to collect, store and monitor metrics from infrastructure and applications. Prometheus pulls metrics from the systems it watches, stores them as a time series, and evaluates alert rules against them. The skill covers the full configuration: scrape configuration, which says where and how often to collect metrics; service discovery, so new targets are found automatically instead of being listed by hand; recording rules, which precompute expensive queries so dashboards load quickly; and alert rules that notify people when something is wrong. Its purpose is to set up comprehensive metric collection, alerting and monitoring of both infrastructure and applications. It applies when setting up Prometheus monitoring, configuring metric scraping, creating recording rules, designing alert rules that are worth acting on, and implementing service discovery in a changing environment.
