Description
a2ui-renderer is an agent skill from the CopilotKit project's skills collection, listed on skills.sh. It shows how to render A2UI, the agent-to-UI declarative surfaces format, in CopilotKit v2. A2UI has two halves. On the runtime side, the server declares the a2ui middleware when it creates CopilotRuntime, which is shown in the example route file api.copilotkit.$.tsx. On the client side, the provider enables the a2ui prop. Once both are set, the /info endpoint reports that A2UI is available, and the client mounts createA2UIMessageRenderer automatically, so the developer does not need to wire renderActivityMessages by hand. The skill builds on the CopilotKit react-core and runtime skills, which should be read first for the basics of the provider and runtime. It is for developers who are adding agent-driven interface surfaces to a CopilotKit app built on React and a server runtime.…
Highlights
- Runtime middleware enabled in CopilotRuntime
- Provider a2ui prop turned on in the client
- Renderer mounted automatically
- Builds on the CopilotKit react-core and runtime skills

What does the a2ui-renderer skill do?
It sets up A2UI declarative surfaces in a CopilotKit v2 app, so an agent can render interface elements in the chat.
How do I install it?
Run: npx skills add https://github.com/copilotkit/copilotkit --skill a2ui-renderer
What needs to be configured?
Two places: the runtime, where a2ui middleware is declared in CopilotRuntime, and the client provider, where the a2ui prop is enabled.
Do I wire the renderer myself?
No. Once both sides are set, the client mounts createA2UIMessageRenderer automatically, so renderActivityMessages does not need manual wiring.
Has it been checked for security?
skills.sh lists three audits: Gen Agent Trust Hub Pass, Socket Pass and Snyk Pass.
What are the best a2ui-renderer alternatives?
Popular alternatives to a2ui-renderer include react-core, webapp-testing and frontend-a11y. See all a2ui-renderer alternatives
