async-python-patterns

Comprehensive guide to asyncio, concurrent patterns

async-python-patterns is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection that guides the writing of asynchronous Python with asyncio. It covers the core concepts of event loops, coroutines, tasks and futures, and then more than ten fundamental and advanced patterns, including concurrent execution, error handling, timeouts and concurrency limits. The skill is aimed at I/O-bound work, where an application spends most of its time waiting on databases, files, the network or other services, and where a non-blocking design lets many operations run together. It names use cases such as async web APIs built with FastAPI, aiohttp or Sanic, concurrent I/O for databases and network calls, web scrapers that fetch many pages at once, real-time features such as WebSocket servers and chat systems, and background tasks and queues. It also includes a sync-versus-async decision guide, so an agent can first check whether async is the right tool for a given job. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository, and its skills.sh page showed about 17.6K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
