About azure-cost-optimization

azure-cost-optimization

Identify cost savings across Azure subscriptions through resource analysis

azure-cost-optimization is a Microsoft agent skill that helps find ways to cut spending across Azure subscriptions. It works from resource analysis and utilization metrics and produces actionable recommendations. The main focus is on orphaned resources, such as unattached disks, unused network interfaces and idle gateways, which keep being billed while doing nothing. It also looks for over-provisioned services and suggests rightsizing Azure VMs, containers and other services based on actual usage data rather than guesses. The skill uses Azure Quick Review for the analysis and walks through the steps in conversation with the user, ending in a cost optimization report. It is triggered by requests such as optimizing Azure costs, reducing spending, analyzing a subscription for savings, or finding unused resources. Redis costs have a separate reference inside the skill. It is installed with the skills CLI from the microsoft/azure-skills repository and was first seen on skills.sh in February 2026. The skills.sh page showed about 155.4K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
