azure-static-web-apps

Deploy static sites and serverless APIs to Azure

azure-static-web-apps is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection for creating, configuring and deploying Azure Static Web Apps with the SWA CLI. Static Web Apps host a static frontend with optional serverless API backends. The skill covers the local emulator, started with swa start, which runs the site and its API proxy on your machine and simulates authentication, so the app can be developed before it is deployed. It auto-detects common frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular and Next.js and sets up their configuration, and it covers direct deployment to Azure and connections to databases. It explains the two configuration files: swa-cli.config.json, which holds CLI settings and is created by swa init and should not be written by hand, and staticwebapp.config.json, which sets the runtime behavior such as routes, authentication, headers and the API runtime, and which can be written manually. The skill is useful for teams building a static site with an API and for developers who want to test the authentication and routing locally before a release. Settings in staticwebapp.config.json control access and headers, so changes to them should be reviewed, especially for authentication rules. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 8.9K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
