Chakra UI v3 changed packages, provider setup, color mode handling, prop names and theming, and it introduced compound components and a new recipe system, so an upgrade is a guided process rather than a version bump. The skill works through the steps in order. It starts by inspecting the project, reading package.json and the other configuration files to learn the current state, and it does not guess package versions or the framework. It notes that Chakra UI v3 requires Node 20 or later and asks for confirmation when the environment is uncertain. It then covers the changes in turn: package changes, codemods that rewrite code automatically for known renames, provider setup, color mode, prop renaming, the move to compound components, theming, and the recipes that replace older styling. The skill is most useful for teams with a sizeable v2 codebase who want the upgrade done in a controlled order with each step checked. Migrations should be done on a branch and checked with the project's tests and by looking at the main screens, since automated codemods cannot catch every change in behavior. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the chakra-ui/chakra-ui repository.
