code-exemplars-blueprint-generator

Technology-agnostic prompt generator

code-exemplars-blueprint-generator is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection, a technology-agnostic prompt generator for finding and documenting high-quality code examples in a codebase. It produces a prompt that, when run, scans the codebase and writes an exemplars.md file identifying representative code that shows the team's standards and patterns, so that new code can be kept consistent with it. The generator supports seven languages and frameworks, .NET, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular and Python, with auto-detection of the project type or a set value. It is configured through a few variables: the scan depth, which runs from basic through standard to comprehensive, whether to include code snippets, how examples are categorized by pattern type, architecture layer or file type, the maximum number of examples per category, and whether to include comments. The output is a Markdown document that the team can keep alongside its coding guidance. It is useful for onboarding, for code review against a model, and for writing coding instructions for AI tools based on real code. The examples the scan picks reflect the code as it is, which may include older practices, so the team should review the selection and mark any example that should not be copied. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 8.8K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
