About comps-analysis

C

comps-analysis

Build institutional-grade comparable company analyses

comps-analysis is an agent skill from the anthropics/financial-services collection for building institutional-grade comparable company analyses. It combines operating metrics, valuation multiples and statistical benchmarking in a structured spreadsheet that supports a decision through peer comparison. Its most important rule is the source of data: when financial data tools such as a financial data MCP are available, they are used exclusively for financial and trading information, and web search is not used as a primary source, because it lacks the accuracy and audit trail that institutional work needs. Only when those tools are unavailable does the skill turn to terminal data services or filings such as SEC EDGAR. The skill covers the reference material that contextualizes a comparison, the metrics to compare, the multiples to calculate, and the statistics that show where a company sits in its peer group. It is useful for analysts and bankers who need a defensible peer set and valuation range. Comparable company analysis is a judgment about which peers are comparable and which figures to trust, and its output is an input to a decision rather than the decision itself, so the peer selection and the data should be reviewed by the analyst responsible for the work. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the anthropics/financial-services repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 2.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
