About Content
Content
The official source for MDN Web Docs content
The mdn/content repository is the source of MDN Web Docs, the open-source reference and learning resource for web developers. It holds the content behind the site, which covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP and Web APIs, with more than 14,000 pages of reference documentation. The project also provides learning resources for students and beginners who are getting started with web development. MDN's mission, as described in the README, is to provide a blueprint for a better internet and to help a new generation of developers and content creators build it. The documentation has been written and maintained since 2005 by about 45,000 contributors, and more than 35 volunteers lead translation and localization into Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, alongside the English articles. To work on the site, you need Node.js, which comes with npm. After installing the dependencies with npm install, you start a local preview, which is served at localhost on port 5042. The repository also has contribution guidelines, a code of conduct and a security policy, and it accepts content contributions.
