About context7-cli

context7-cli
Use the ctx7 CLI to fetch library documentation and configure Context7 MCP
context7-cli is an agent skill from Upstash's Context7 project for using the ctx7 command-line tool. The CLI does two things. It fetches up-to-date documentation for libraries, so an assistant can answer from current docs instead of memory, and it sets up the Context7 MCP server in your editor. The skill is triggered when a user mentions ctx7 or Context7, or needs current docs for a library. It asks you to keep the CLI up to date by installing ctx7@latest globally, or to run it directly with npx ctx7@latest followed by a command. The skill's listed topics cover those two jobs: looking up documentation from the terminal, and configuring the Context7 MCP server for an editor so the same lookups happen inside the assistant. It is useful when a library's API has changed since the model was trained, or when a setup question needs the exact current steps. Because it reads documentation from a service, check the results against the library's own site for anything critical. The skill passes Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket on skills.sh, and Snyk shows a warning. It has about 7,400 installs. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/upstash/context7 --skill context7-cli.
