About conventional-commit

conventional-commit
Structured prompt template
conventional-commit is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection, a structured prompt template for writing commit messages that follow the Conventional Commits specification. It guides the user through a workflow: review the changed files with git status, inspect the changes with git diff or git diff --cached, stage the changes, and then construct the commit message using an XML structure with the type, scope, description, body and footer fields. Standard commit messages make the history readable and let tools derive changelogs and version numbers from it. The skill is useful for developers who want consistent commit messages across a team without memorizing the format. A point to note is that the template instructs the assistant to run the commit command in the integrated terminal without asking for confirmation after the message is generated. That means the commit is created as soon as the message is produced, so the user should check the staged changes and the message before the command runs, and the staged set should contain only what the commit is meant to include. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 17.0K installs. At the time of the scan, Gen Agent Trust Hub returned a warning, while Socket and Snyk passed.
