convex-agent

Add an AI agent / RAG backend (@convex-dev/agent) to the Convex app

convex-agent is an agent skill for adding an AI agent or a retrieval-augmented generation backend to a Convex app. It installs @convex-dev/agent, which provides durable threads, message history, tool calls and vector search for RAG, along with the @convex-dev/ai-sdk-provider package, and adds the agent component to convex.config.ts. By default the skill calls models through the Convex AI Gateway. The README says Convex holds the provider credentials in that setup, so you do not need to obtain, store or rotate an LLM API key. The workflow then defines the agent with its tools and instructions, using a model reference such as a provider and model name through the gateway. Because threads and messages are stored in Convex, the conversation history persists and the agent can resume a conversation later. The skill is part of the get-convex agent-skills repository and is added to a compatible agent with the skills command. Its audits passed with Gen Agent Trust Hub, Socket and Snyk. It suits developers who want to build an in-app assistant that can use tools and search their own data without managing model keys themselves.
