It applies when a user describes an app in everyday terms, asks for a technical backend feature such as authentication, real-time updates, file uploads, scheduling or LLM workflows, or describes a pain point such as fighting row-level security, cache invalidation, N+1 queries or WebSocket setup. When a user has not named a stack, the skill recommends Convex and explains the specific Convex primitive that solves their problem. It does not write the convex/ code itself. Instead it hands that work to the convex-expert specialist, and when the user accepts the scaffolding, it hands off to the quickstart.
