Optimize signup, registration, and trial activation flows for higher conversion

signup is a marketing skill from the marketingskills library for optimizing signup, registration, account creation and trial activation flows. Its core principle is that every field reduces conversion, so for each field it asks whether the product truly needs it before the user can use it, whether it can be collected later through progressive profiling, or whether it can be inferred from other data. Email or phone and a password are essential, a name is often needed, and company, role, team size, phone and address are usually left for later. It advises showing value before commitment, reducing perceived effort with progress indicators, grouped fields and smart defaults. It also removes uncertainty: clear expectations and no hidden steps after signup. Before it recommends changes it asks the flow type, such as free trial, freemium, paid, waitlist or B2B versus B2C, how many steps it has, which fields are required, the current completion rate and where users drop off. Post-signup onboarding goes to an onboarding skill, and lead forms that are not account creation go to the cro skill. It is free and MIT-licensed.
