About create-github-action-workflow-specification

create-github-action-workflow-specification
Generates formal, AI-optimized specifications for GitHub Actions workflows
create-github-action-workflow-specification is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that writes a formal specification for an existing GitHub Actions CI/CD workflow. The specification describes what the workflow accomplishes, its requirements and its constraints, rather than the details of how it is implemented, so it stays useful when the workflow's syntax or tools change. The skill is written to be efficient for AI readers and clear for people. It uses concise language, tables, lists and diagrams for dense information, consistent terminology, and it avoids specific syntax, commands and tool versions. The output includes an execution flow diagram, a job dependency matrix and a table of requirements, and it is saved to a file named for the workflow under a spec folder. The skill is useful for documenting pipelines that few people understand, for handing a workflow to a new maintainer, and for checking that a rewritten workflow still meets the requirements of the original. Because the specification is derived from the workflow file, the people who own the pipeline should confirm that the stated requirements are the intended ones and not merely what the file happens to do. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 10.7K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
