create-github-pull-request-from-specification

Automated GitHub pull request creation from specification templates

create-github-pull-request-from-specification is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that opens a GitHub pull request for a feature described in a specification. It reads the repository's pull request template at .github/pull_request_template.md and extracts the requirements from it, then creates a draft pull request against the target branch. Before it creates anything, it checks whether a pull request already exists for the current branch, so it does not open a duplicate, and if one exists it moves on to the update steps. It reads the diff of the changes to see what was actually modified, then rewrites the pull request title and body so they reflect both the template and the real changes. It switches the pull request from draft to ready for review, assigns it to the person who created it, and returns the link. The requirements are that a single pull request covers the complete specification and that its title clearly identifies the work. The skill is useful when a feature is finished and a team follows a fixed pull request template, since it saves the manual work of filling in the description. Because the skill marks the pull request ready for review and assigns it, the author should check the draft before the workflow completes, and should confirm the target branch first. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 8.9K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
