developing-genkit-js

Build AI-powered applications in Node.js/TypeScript

developing-genkit-js is a skill for building AI-powered applications in Node.js and TypeScript with Genkit. It covers Genkit flows, models and tools. A flow is defined with input and output schemas written in Zod, so its inputs and outputs are typed, and the flow can call models and chain operations together. Genkit provides one API across several AI providers, including Google AI, OpenAI, Anthropic and Ollama, and the skill defaults to Google AI when you do not name a provider. The skill checks the prerequisites first. You need the genkit CLI at version 1.29.0 or later, so the skill asks you to run genkit --version and, if the CLI is missing or older, to install or upgrade it with npm install -g genkit-cli@^1.29.0. For a new codebase, it points to a separate setup guide. Its Hello World example starts by importing z and genkit from the genkit package and googleAI from the Google GenAI plugin. The skill is installed with npx skills from the genkit-ai/skills repository, and its security audits all pass.
