About Dia
Dia
A TTS model capable of generating ultra-realistic dialogue in one pass
Dia is a text-to-speech model with 1.6 billion parameters, made by Nari Labs. Instead of generating one sentence at a time, it takes a transcript with speaker tags and produces the whole dialogue in one pass. It can add nonverbal sounds such as laughter, coughing and clearing the throat, and an audio prompt can steer its emotion and tone. Giving it a short sample of a voice, with a transcript, also lets it continue in that voice. The model only generates English for now. Pretrained checkpoints and inference code are published, with the weights hosted on Hugging Face. The GitHub repository covers installation with pip or uv and includes a Gradio interface for trying it in a browser. Dia is also available through Hugging Face Transformers. The authors list generation guidelines, such as keeping input at a moderate length and alternating speaker tags, and they have released Dia2 and opened a waitlist for a larger version.
