About documentation-lookup

documentation-lookup
About libraries, frameworks, API references, or needs code examples
documentation-lookup is an agent skill from Upstash's Context7 project for looking up current library documentation when a user asks about a library, framework, API or code example. It applies whenever the question involves a setup, a configuration or code that uses a library, such as configuring Next.js middleware or writing a Prisma query, and it names frameworks such as React, Vue, Svelte, Express and Tailwind as triggers. Its lookup starts by resolving the library ID through resolve-library-id, but it passes the user's full question as the query, so the ranking of results follows the exact thing being asked. That is the main difference from the context7-mcp skill, which passes only the specific lookup. Use it when a question is specific and the wording of the question matters for finding the right section of the docs, such as an unusual configuration option or a version-specific behavior. It does not replace reading the library's own documentation for critical work, and it works best when the library name is clear from the question. The skill passes Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket on skills.sh, and Snyk shows a warning. It has about 1,400 installs. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/upstash/context7 --skill documentation-lookup.
