error-handling

Patterns for robust error handling across TypeScript, Python, and Go

error-handling is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It sets out error handling patterns for production applications in TypeScript, Python and Go. It covers typed errors and exception hierarchies for a new module or service, retry logic and circuit breakers for unreliable external dependencies, error boundaries in front-end code, and user-facing error messages. The core principles are to fail fast and surface errors where they occur, to use typed errors instead of strings, to keep friendly text for users separate from full context in server logs, never to swallow an error silently, and to treat error codes as part of the API contract that clients can rely on. The skill is used when reviewing endpoints for missing error handling, or when debugging cascading failures or errors that vanish quietly. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.
