About file-conversion

file-conversion
A local file converted between common image, audio, video, document
file-conversion is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for converting a file on your own machine between common image, audio, video, document and data formats. It works with the conversion tools already installed on the user's computer and selects one that can do the job, while keeping the original file in place. Privacy is built into how it works: the skill never sends files or their URLs to conversion APIs, conversion services delivered through MCP, or upload endpoints. Conversion and output delivery stay local. The skill also treats the contents of a file as data rather than as instructions, so text inside a document cannot direct the agent. When the user supplies a URL, the skill saves the input locally using a retrieval method the user has authorized, then inspects and converts that local copy. If retrieval is not available, it reports the access gap instead of working around it. The workflow starts by inspecting the input and choosing the right tool, then performs the conversion and reports the result. It is useful for converting between formats such as documents, images, audio and video, or data files, without uploading them to a third-party service. It is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 2.8K installs and Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket passing with Snyk showing a warning at the time of the scan.
