About fix-errors

fix-errors
Guidelines for fixing unhandled errors
fix-errors is an agent skill from the Microsoft VS Code repository, listed on skills.sh. It gives guidance for fixing unhandled errors reported on the VS Code error telemetry dashboard, which show a message, a stack trace, a hit count and the number of affected users. Its central rule is not to fix the error at the crash site, since guards, swallowed exceptions or fallback values only hide a problem whose real cause is invalid data that flows in from elsewhere. Instead, the agent reads the stack trace from the bottom up, works out what data each frame receives and where it came from, such as an IPC message, an extension API call or stored state, and looks for the producer of the bad data. If the producer cannot be identified from the stack alone, the skill gives further steps. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.
