About golang-performance

golang-performance
Golang performance optimization patterns and methodology
golang-performance is an agent skill from the samber cc-skills-golang collection that guides a coding agent through Go performance work. Its rule is to profile before optimising: define a metric, take a baseline, diagnose the bottleneck, make one change at a time and compare the results. The skill covers allocation reduction, CPU efficiency, memory layout and garbage collection pressure, and it expresses its advice as patterns of the form if a given bottleneck appears, apply a given fix. It has three review and optimisation modes. Architecture review scans a package or service for structural problems such as missing connection pools, unbounded goroutines and poor data structures, and can split the work across up to three sub-agents by concern: allocation and memory layout, I/O and concurrency, and algorithmic complexity and caching. Hot-path review looks at one function or tight loop identified by the caller, sequentially. Optimise mode works from a bottleneck that profiling has already found. The skill uses the benchstat tool, installed with go install golang.org/x/perf/cmd/benchstat@latest, to compare benchmark runs. It is listed on skills.sh, where the page shows install counts, GitHub stars and security audit results. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/samber/cc-skills-golang --skill golang-performance.
