About google/cloud/alloydb-basics

google/cloud/alloydb-basics
Manages clusters, instances, and backups for AlloyDB for PostgreSQL
alloydb-basics is an agent skill for managing clusters, instances and backups in AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, Google Cloud's managed PostgreSQL-compatible database for enterprise performance and availability. It uses a disaggregated compute and storage design, so the two scale independently. It also covers AlloyDB AI, which includes AI-powered search with vector and hybrid search, natural-language features, conversational analytics, and inference such as forecasting and model endpoint management. Its quick start enables the AlloyDB API, creates a cluster and a primary instance, using the Google Cloud SDK and gcloud authentication. For production, the skill recommends IAM database authentication rather than passwords, and storing any required passwords in Secret Manager. Its reference directory covers architecture and connectivity, the command-line tool, the AlloyDB MCP tools, infrastructure as code with Terraform and Config Connector, and IAM roles. The skill says not to use it for general PostgreSQL instances such as Cloud SQL. It is part of the google/skills repository on GitHub. The listing shows it as free.
