About hatch-pet

hatch-pet

Create, repair, validate, visually QA

Hatch-pet is a skill from OpenAI's skills collection for creating a Codex-compatible animated pet. It builds the pet from a concept, a brand or company cue, one or more reference images, or a mix of these. It can also create, repair, validate, visually check and package the pet and its spritesheet. The workflow keeps a deterministic pipeline for the atlas geometry, validation, visual quality checks and packaging, and it uses concise prompts for each animation state, with any pet-safe visual style allowed. The inputs are optional. If you give no pet name, the skill infers one from the concept, the brand or the reference filenames, and if you give no description, it infers one from the concept or references. If you have no reference images, it generates a base pet from text first and then uses that as the canonical reference for the rest of the animation. The result is a pet that can be packaged for Codex. The skill is listed on skills.sh under the openai/skills repository, as free to use.
