About homelab-vlan-segmentation

homelab-vlan-segmentation
Segmenting home networks into VLANs for IoT, guest, trusted
homelab-vlan-segmentation is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It explains how to divide a home network into VLANs for IoT devices, guests, trusted machines and servers, so that these groups cannot reach one another unless allowed. The skill describes the setup on UniFi, pfSense or OPNsense, and MikroTik, including switch trunk configuration, access ports and mapping SSIDs to VLANs. It frames VLAN segmentation as a major security upgrade for a home network. Its firewall rules only add isolation and do not remove existing protections. It insists that changes be made in a maintenance window, with connectivity between segments verified after each step before moving on. It applies to first-time VLAN setup, isolating smart bulbs, cameras and TVs from trusted devices, building a guest Wi-Fi that cannot reach home devices, explaining the concept to someone new to it, and troubleshooting inter-VLAN routing or firewall rules. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.
