About json-canvas

json-canvas
Create and edit JSON Canvas files
json-canvas is an agent skill for creating and editing JSON Canvas files, which use the .canvas extension and open in Obsidian. A canvas file holds two arrays: nodes and edges. Nodes are the boxes on the canvas, and the skill supports four node types: text with Markdown, references to files, external links, and visual groups that organise a layout. Edges connect nodes, and they can carry optional labels, directional arrows and anchor points on each side. The skill follows the JSON Canvas Specification 1.0 and gives common workflows, starting with creating a new canvas. It is useful for mind maps, flow diagrams and planning boards that you want to keep as plain JSON, so they can be read and diffed with other text files. Because the format is plain JSON, an agent can generate a canvas from notes or data, and you can open the result in Obsidian. The skill is published in the kepano/obsidian-skills repository on GitHub, which has about 49,600 stars. The listing shows it as free, and it has about 72,600 installs. Its security audits show passes from Gen Agent Trust Hub, Socket and Snyk. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/kepano/obsidian-skills --skill json-canvas.
