About Kakoune
Kakoune
Kakoune code editor - Vim inspired
Kakoune is a modal code editor, inspired by Vim, that is built around selections. Its official site says it is faster in the sense of fewer keystrokes, and its central idea is multiple selections, which you can use to act on many pieces of text at once. Selections are manipulated with powerful primitives, including regular expression matches, filtering, splitting, aligning and text objects. The editor also includes tools for writing text, such as contextual help, completion as you type, and syntax highlighting for several programming languages. You can select and change text in several ways, using primitives for rotating selections, changing case and adjusting indentation. The design follows an orthogonal approach, in which a small set of commands combine in predictable ways. The site is available in English, French, Hungarian and Italian, and it links to documentation, an issue tracker, design notes, a gallery of setups, plugins, a community wiki, forums, a Matrix room, an IRC channel, a mailing list and a subreddit. The source code is on GitHub under the mawww account.
