About LibrePhotos
LibrePhotos
Photo management service with a slight focus on cool graphs
LibrePhotos is a free, open-source, self-hosted photo management service released under the MIT licence. It scans the folders you already have, finds faces, places and events in the photos, and makes the whole library searchable, including by semantic search. The site says that nothing is sent to a third party, neither the photos nor their metadata. The app offers a timeline that groups the library by the day it was taken and shows where, a people view for faces, a map of places, and albums that build themselves as events. You can run it with Docker, Kubernetes or Unraid, or as a standalone program on Windows, and an Android app is included. The documentation has installation guides, first-steps notes for pointing the app at your photos, running the first scan and setting up accounts for the household, and development setup for contributors. The project is maintained by volunteers and funded by sponsorship, and the site says there is no paid tier. It suits people who want to keep their photo library on their own machine instead of a cloud service.
