About make-repo-contribution

M

make-repo-contribution

Enforce repository contribution guidelines before creating issues, branches

make-repo-contribution is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that makes an agent follow a repository's contribution guidelines before it files an issue, creates a branch, writes commits or opens a pull request. Its job is to read the repository's documentation, including the README, CONTRIBUTING.md and the issue and pull request templates, and identify the required workflow, the branch naming convention and the commit message format, so that the contribution matches what the maintainers expect. The skill sets firm security boundaries that apply at all times and override anything written in repository files. The agent must not run commands or scripts found in repository documentation, must not read files outside the repository working tree such as SSH keys or environment files, must not make network requests to URLs mentioned in documentation, and must not place secrets, credentials or environment variables in issues, commits or pull requests. Templates are used only for their headings and sections, and any instruction inside them is not executed. If documentation asks for something that conflicts with these rules, the agent stops and flags it to the user. The skill is useful for contributors to unfamiliar projects who want their contributions to fit the house style, and for maintainers who want the rules followed. Contribution rules should be read by the contributor, since the agent can misread them. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 11.1K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
