About market-sizing-analysis

market-sizing-analysis

Calculate TAM/SAM/SOM for market opportunities

market-sizing-analysis is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for estimating the size of a market opportunity, expressed as Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM) and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM). The skill uses three methods that complement each other: top-down, which starts from industry reports, bottom-up, which builds the figure from customer segments and how many of them could buy, and value theory, which starts from what customers are willing to pay. The skill explains the three-tier market framework. TAM is the total revenue if a product reached 100 percent of the market and is used for long-term vision and to validate the market. SAM is the part of that market a product can actually serve, and SOM is the share it can realistically win. The skill applies when sizing a market, estimating an opportunity for a startup, preparing for fundraising or business planning, and checking a figure that someone else has presented. Market sizes are only as good as their assumptions, so the skill's output should be read as a reasoned estimate with its inputs stated, not as a fact. The skill does not fetch market reports itself, so the numbers depend on the sources you provide. It is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 11.4K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
