About migrate-ai-sdk-v6-to-v7

migrate-ai-sdk-v6-to-v7
Migrate applications from AI SDK 6.x to AI SDK 7.0
Migrate-ai-sdk-v6-to-v7 is an agent skill that moves an application from the Vercel AI SDK 6.x to version 7.0. It uses the SDK's own migration guide from its repository as the source of truth and treats the skill as a working checklist that points back to the guide for exact examples. The workflow starts by making sure there is a clean backup or committed baseline, then inspects the package files and lockfiles to see which AI SDK, provider, UI, MCP and telemetry packages are installed. It upgrades the SDK packages to the latest versions, adds the OpenTelemetry package only where the project uses OpenTelemetry spans, and updates the runtime and module assumptions. In version 7, Node.js must be 22 or newer, and the packages are ESM-only, so require calls must be replaced with ESM imports. The skill also covers the core API changes. It is useful when upgrading the SDK packages or fixing errors that appear after a v7 upgrade.
