About migrate-to-codex

M

migrate-to-codex

Migrate supported instruction files, skills, agents

Migrate-to-codex is a skill from OpenAI's skills collection that moves supported instruction files, skills, agents and MCP configuration into Codex's project and global files. The skill runs the migrator, reads the report, fixes the migrated Codex instructions, skills, agents and MCP config, and re-runs the checks, carrying on until the chosen migration is complete. It is meant to keep going rather than stop at each step. Once you choose a target, it creates or replaces generated Codex artifacts in the project's AGENTS.md and .codex or .agents folders, or in the global Codex folder, without asking first. It keeps unrelated entries in the Codex config file, such as notify, projects, marketplaces or unrelated MCP servers, unless they fail validation or directly conflict with the migration. It does not edit the source Claude Code files. The migration order is set out in the skill. It is useful for teams who want to move an existing Claude Code setup to Codex without redoing their instructions and tools by hand.
