Neon is an agent skill that gives an overview of Neon, a set of cloud backend building blocks around Lakebase Postgres, which is the database itself. It is the place to start when an agent needs to set up a backend. The primitives are Lakebase Postgres, managed Better Auth, long-running Functions, Object Storage and an AI Gateway, which all branch together. The skill explains that Lakebase Postgres is one product reached in two ways: through Neon, with a free plan and the full set of primitives, or through Databricks alongside its suite. The database is provisioned instantly and is ordinary Postgres, so it works with any driver or ORM. A Neon branch is an isolated, copy-on-write clone of your data, taken from the current state or from a past point in the project's retained history. You can modify or delete a branch freely, and it shares data with its parent until writes make it diverge. Compute scales to zero, although storage is still billed. The skill also gives naming guidance: the database is called Lakebase Postgres, and Neon is the brand and access path.
