Description
next-partial-prefetching-adoption is an agent skill from Vercel's Next.js repository, listed on skills.sh. It turns on Partial Prefetching in a Next.js app and works through the insights it raises, until every link reuses a shared App Shell. With the feature on, a link to a route prefetches one shared shell rather than the full page. Setting prefetch to true can also resolve cached URL-specific content. The skill first sets a preservation gate: it builds a passing test suite with the flag still off, records the command and exit status, and does not enable the flag or edit cache boundaries or link props until that baseline passes. Insights appear only under next dev in the dev overlay, while preservation tests run against a production-like build. It needs Cache Components enabled with a passing build and Next.js 16.3 or later. The skill tells the agent to explain changes to the user in terms of what they will see in the app, not internal labels. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.…
