About Nightingale
Nightingale
Open-source, self-hosted alerting for metrics, logs, and databases
Nightingale is an open-source, self-hosted alerting system for metrics, logs and databases, released under the Apache-2.0 licence. It brings alert rules, event processing and notification routing into one place, and it connects to the data sources you already run, such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Elasticsearch, Loki and ClickHouse. Alerts can be delivered to Slack, PagerDuty and your team's existing tools. Rules are organised into business groups with team permissions, and you can manage rules and notification settings through the UI or the API. When an alert fires, you can inspect rule evaluation records, historical events and notification results to trace a query through to delivery. Nightingale keeps your existing collectors, storage and Grafana dashboards, and the project says Grafana can still handle visualisation. It includes a built-in AI agent and an MCP server. The repository has a Docker Compose evaluation stack that starts Nightingale with MySQL, Redis, VictoriaMetrics and Categraf, and it notes that the example credentials should be changed before a shared or public deployment. A standalone configuration includes an optional embedded time-series database for small single-instance setups.
