nodejs-keccak256

Prevent Ethereum hashing bugs in JavaScript and TypeScript

nodejs-keccak256 is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It prevents a silent bug in Ethereum code written in JavaScript or TypeScript. Ethereum uses Keccak-256, but Node's crypto.createHash('sha3-256') produces NIST SHA3-256, which is a different algorithm that gives different output for the same input, and Node does not warn about it. That mismatch breaks function selectors, event topics, signatures, Merkle trees and storage-slot calculations without an error. The skill advises using a Keccak-256 implementation, such as the one in the ethers library, rather than the built-in SHA3 hash. It applies when computing function selectors or event topics, building EIP-712, signature, Merkle or storage-slot helpers, and reviewing any code that hashes Ethereum data with Node's crypto module directly. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.
