About openapi-to-application-code

openapi-to-application-code

Generate complete, production-ready applications directly

openapi-to-application-code is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that generates a complete, working application from an OpenAPI specification, following the conventions of the framework in use. The specification can be given as a URL, a local file or pasted content. The skill first validates that the specification is complete and identifies the endpoints, the schemas, the authentication requirements and the relationships between the data, and it asks for any missing project details, such as the project name, the target framework and version, the naming conventions for packages, and the authentication method if the specification does not define it. It then generates the application in the framework's usual layout. It is useful when an API is designed first and needs a server skeleton quickly, or when a team wants a consistent starting point for a set of endpoints. Generated code is a starting point: the business rules, the security of the authentication setup and the data handling must be written and reviewed by the team, since a specification describes the interface but not the behavior behind it. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 9.4K installs, with Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket passing and Snyk showing a warning at the time of the scan.
