About openspec-apply-change

O

openspec-apply-change

Implement tasks from an OpenSpec change

openspec-apply-change is an agent skill from the OpenSpec project for implementing the tasks of an OpenSpec change. It is used when you want to start implementing, continue an implementation already under way, or work through the task list one item at a time. Before the first write, it checks that the project has an OpenSpec root by running the list command and reading the result, and it stops and asks what to do if the project is not set up, rather than creating an openspec folder as a side effect. If you work in a store, which is a standalone OpenSpec repository registered on the machine, the skill selects it and passes the store id to the commands that read or write changes, keeping that choice for the whole workflow. The skill treats a project that uses OpenSpec through a store it cannot resolve as an error to fix, not as an uninitialized project. Whether the request came from a user who named OpenSpec or from the assistant on its own changes what the skill does when setup is missing, and it stays quiet about OpenSpec if the user did not ask for it. The skill is for developers who keep their feature work in OpenSpec changes and want the assistant to follow the task list in order.
