About parallel-debugging

parallel-debugging
Debug complex issues using competing hypotheses
parallel-debugging is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for finding the root cause of complex bugs by testing several explanations at once. It is built on the Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH) method, in which a team writes down every plausible cause, gathers evidence for and against each one, and only then decides which explanation fits, rather than settling on the first idea. The skill runs that investigation in parallel, with separate agents each following one hypothesis and collecting its evidence, followed by root cause arbitration that weighs the results. It begins with a hypothesis generation framework that covers six failure mode categories, so the search includes logic errors and the other common kinds of fault rather than only the most obvious one. The method is meant to counter confirmation bias, where a debugger keeps looking for evidence that supports the first theory. The skill applies when a bug has several plausible root causes, when initial attempts have not identified the problem, when an issue spans several modules or components, when systematic root cause analysis with evidence is needed, and when the team wants to avoid confirmation bias. It is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 9.8K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
