About plantuml-ascii

P

plantuml-ascii

Generate ASCII art diagrams from PlantUML text syntax for terminal

plantuml-ascii is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection for generating ASCII art diagrams from PlantUML text syntax, for use in a terminal, a README, an email or a commit message. PlantUML can produce a diagram as plain text rather than an image, which suits terminal workflows, version-controlled documentation and places where graphical tools are not available. The skill supports six diagram types: sequence, class, activity, state, component, use case and deployment diagrams. It offers two output formats, pure ASCII, selected with the -txt option, and Unicode-enhanced ASCII, selected with -utxt, which uses box-drawing characters for cleaner lines. It gives the installation steps and the commands for generating the output. It applies when a user asks for an ASCII diagram, a text-based diagram, or a diagram that displays well in a terminal. It is useful for developers who document systems in plain text and want a diagram that lives beside the code and changes with it. The skill runs the PlantUML tool on the user's machine, so the source text it renders should be reviewed, and the tool should be installed from its official distribution. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 9.7K installs. At the time of the scan, Gen Agent Trust Hub returned a failure, while Socket and Snyk passed.
