About superself

superself
A project keeps its state in Superself
superself is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection that teaches an agent how to read and write a project's state through the Superself command-line tool. Superself is an Apache-2.0 CLI, installed from npm, that version-controls a project's goals, decisions, work units and reports as an append-only event log in a git repository kept separate from the code. Because the state is derived on demand from that log, nothing in it is maintained by hand. The skill applies when a project's AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md contains a Superself block, or when the self setup command resolves the project's workspace and store. It tells the agent to check the command's help before relying on any verb or flag, since the skill is written against Superself 0.6.1 and later versions may change them. It also tells the agent to skip the skill when the self command is not available, because the project does not use Superself and nothing should be invented by hand. The skill is maintained by the Superself authors. It is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository, and its skills.sh page showed about 1.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
