temporal-python-testing

Test Temporal workflows with pytest, time-skipping, and mocking strategies

temporal-python-testing is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for testing Temporal workflows written in Python with pytest. Temporal runs durable workflows whose steps can take hours or days, and testing them needs its own strategies. The skill covers unit testing of workflows with time-skipping, so a test that waits a week of simulated time finishes in seconds, integration testing of workflows with their activities mocked, and replay testing, which checks that a changed workflow still behaves deterministically against histories recorded from production. It also covers setting up a local Temporal server and pytest for development, integrating these tests into CI/CD pipelines, and reaching a coverage target such as 80 percent. The skill presents a testing philosophy and uses progressive disclosure, so the agent loads detailed resources only for the scenario at hand. It applies when unit testing workflows, setting up integration suites with mocked activities, running replay tests against production histories, developing against a local server, wiring tests into continuous integration, and aiming for coverage. Replay tests are the check that catches the most common Temporal mistake, a code change that breaks workflows already running, so they are worth keeping in CI. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 10.7K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
