About understand

U

understand

Analyze a codebase to produce an interactive knowledge graph

understand is an agent skill from the understand-anything project that analyzes the current codebase and produces a knowledge-graph.json file. The file is stored in the project's data directory and powers an interactive dashboard for exploring the project's architecture, components and relationships. The skill supports several options. A full rebuild ignores any existing graph. An auto-update setting turns on or off automatic graph updates on commit. A review option runs a full language-model graph reviewer in place of the inline deterministic validation. A language option generates all text, including summaries, descriptions and titles, in a chosen language, and remembers the choice for later incremental updates. An exclude option takes glob patterns for files and folders to leave out of the analysis, which take priority over the built-in defaults and the project's ignore rules. A directory path can be given to analyze a project other than the current one. The skill reports progress as it works. It suits developers who join an unfamiliar codebase, or who want an explorable map of a project's architecture before they change it.
