update-avm-modules-in-bicep
Automated Azure Verified Module version updates for Bicep files
by githubFree
Description
update-avm-modules-in-bicep is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that updates Azure Verified Modules (AVM) referenced in a Bicep file to their latest versions. It scans the file for AVM module references, finds the latest version of each module in the Microsoft Container Registry, compares the semantic versions, and applies the updates. For breaking changes, it fetches the module documentation to see what has changed before applying them, and it pauses for manual approval when a change is breaking, modifies security settings, or changes parameters. After the update it runs the Bicep linter and build to confirm the file is still valid, and it summarizes the changes in a table. It is useful for teams that keep their infrastructure on current, supported module versions without checking each module by hand. Module updates can change how resources are deployed, so the summary should be read and the deployment previewed with a what-if before the change is applied to any environment. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 8.6K installs. At the time of the scan, Gen Agent Trust Hub and Socket passed and Snyk showed a warning.…
