About variant

V

variant

Builds multiple variants of a component you're working on and helps you iterate

variant is an agent skill that takes one described piece of user interface and builds three versions of it that differ on purpose. The versions go behind a picker in the real page, so you can flip between them and choose. The skill produces candidates and never ranks them. Each variant is a different answer to the same brief on one primary axis, and the axis names the picker's group heading. The collection's axes are structure, which is grouping, order, column count and what collapses, owned by better-layout; density, meaning the spacing scale and how much fits, also owned by better-layout; emphasis, meaning where filled color goes and what recedes, owned by better-colors; type, meaning scale steps, weight contrast and measure, owned by better-typography; and voice, meaning labels, tone and how much copy, owned by better-writing. Secondary choices follow from the primary axis rather than varying on their own, so a dense variant may need a smaller type step as a matter of coherence. Reviewing existing UI belongs to interface-review and stress testing one component belongs to break. The skill is installed with npx skills add https://github.com/jakubkrehel/skills --skill variant.
