About verify-openspec-docs

verify-openspec-docs
Fact-checks OpenSpec user documentation with a fresh-context subagent
verify-openspec-docs is an agent skill from the OpenSpec project that fact-checks finished user documentation. It runs only when you ask for it, and it is kept separate from drafting, which is handled by the write-openspec-docs skill. A reviewer subagent starts with a fresh context, so it has not watched the prose being written and cannot be persuaded by the author's assumptions. The reviewer re-runs the documented commands and checks each claim against the source code. The skill scopes the run first, confirming a target such as a whole page, a single section or a list of changed claims, and asks if no target was given. It reads the README at the root of the docs tree, since its invariants and page map are part of what gets checked. The work is split into units, one subagent per section or claim list, and a full page becomes several subagents running in parallel. Each reviewer is asked to read as two people at once: a skeptical developer reading the page cold, and a fact-checker with the repository open. It is for maintainers who want documentation checked against reality before it reaches readers. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/fission-ai/openspec --skill verify-openspec-docs.
